What minimum percentage do you need in 10th, 12th and degree to qualify for BFSI training?
Most BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) training programs, including the ones at AKROS Solution, ask for a minimum of 50% aggregate in 10th, 12th, and your degree or diploma. That's the standard cutoff across most classroom and online programs, whether you're applying straight out of college or coming in as a working professional.
The usual eligibility numbers
- 10th standard: 50% aggregate is the common bar. A handful of programs go as low as 45%.
- 12th standard: 50% aggregate, and it doesn't matter which stream you studied — Science, Commerce or Arts are all accepted. A Commerce background helps you pick up concepts like GST, ledgers and financial statements faster, but it isn't a requirement.
- Graduation/degree: 50% aggregate in any discipline is standard. Programs tied to a specific role — wealth management or NBFC relationship roles, for example — sometimes prefer a B.Com, BBA or finance-related degree, but they rarely make it mandatory.
Relaxation for reserved categories
Most institutes, ours included, relax the cutoff by about 5% for SC/ST/OBC candidates, bringing it down to 45% at each stage. If you're right on the border, ask the specific program you're applying to rather than assuming — the relaxation isn't universal, and some employer-tied programs don't offer it.
Why the percentage bar exists at all
The cutoff isn't about testing subject knowledge you'll use on the job — most BFSI training starts from zero and assumes no prior finance background. It exists because the recruiting partners (the banks, NBFCs and insurers who eventually hire from these batches) use it as a basic screening filter during placement drives. A program that certifies candidates who can't clear that bar loses credibility with its hiring partners, so institutes hold the line even though the coursework itself doesn't need it.
What if you're a little under the cutoff
A few options that actually work:
- Check for a category-based relaxation — this alone covers a lot of borderline cases.
- Look at role-specific programs with lower entry bars, such as frontline sales or retail associate tracks, which some institutes keep more open since the job itself is less analytically heavy.
- Retake a paper if you're a current student — even a small jump on one subject can push your aggregate over the line.
- Talk to the admissions team directly. Percentage cutoffs on a website are often the default policy, not a hard rule, and some institutes make case-by-case exceptions if you show strength elsewhere — a good aptitude score, a relevant certification, or work experience.
If you're currently a final-year student
You don't need your final degree marksheet in hand to enroll. Most programs let you join based on your latest available marks (12th, or semester-wise degree scores) and simply ask you to submit the final degree certificate once it's issued — usually before you sit for placement interviews.
Bottom line
50% at each stage is the number to plan around, with some room if you fall in a reserved category or find a program with role-specific entry requirements. If you're close but not quite there, the smartest move is to ask the specific institute directly rather than ruling yourself out based on a general rule you found online.
If you want a clear answer for your own marksheet, AKROS Solution's admissions team checks eligibility case by case — reach out before you assume you don't qualify.
Related questions
Does the stream I studied in 12th (Science, Commerce or Arts) affect BFSI training eligibility?
No, most BFSI training programs accept any stream in 12th. A Commerce background makes early lessons on ledgers and financial statements easier to pick up, but it isn't a requirement for admission.
Can I apply for BFSI training if I'm still in my final year of graduation?
Yes, most programs let you enroll using your latest available marks and only ask for the final degree certificate closer to placement time, usually before your first interview.
Will a backlog or arrear in one subject stop me from qualifying?
Usually not, as long as your overall aggregate still meets the cutoff and you clear the backlog before the batch or placement drive begins. Some institutes ask for proof the arrear has been cleared before final placement.
